GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Tonight is your chance to take a trip into the past with Mesa County Libraries. It's part of their "One Book, One Mesa County” program.

The "One Book" program is currently reading “Rules of Civility,” relating the novel to arts, entertainment, and the present day. Tonight you can get a first hand peek into the past of the fashions that made the 1930s a time of true glamour.

For Caole Lowry, vintage fashion is all about bringing the past into the present.

“I feel like I’m working with the past everyday… a living past through vintage clothing,” she says.

That living past will be brought to life tonight with a look at the glamorous 1930s. And Lowry couldn't be more eager to tie her knowledge of vintage fashion to the best selling novel "Rules of Civility.”

"It takes place in new York in the 1930s, a very fashionable time,” says Lowry.

Her job is to recreate a feeling of that era through her fashions on display at Planet Earth and the 4 Directions Gallery, a passion she's had since she was just a young girl.

"I used to go to second hand stores all the time, and I just love the spirit and feeling of these wonderful old clothes that were made so beautifully,” says Lowry.

The best part about sharing her love of vintage with others tonight, she says, is connecting the past with the present.

"It’s relevant, it’s beautiful, it’s different, it’s handmade, it's a very unique fashion statement, and its very much part of being an individual,” she says.

Lowry will host tonight's event alongside Julie Tierney of television's Project Runway. The two hope that readers and fashion lovers alike will walk away with a new perspective on 1930's glamour.

Tonight's event will kick off at 6 p.m. at Central Library in their program room.
