Colorado State Troopers say shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday a car traveling eastbound on Highway 50 near 29- Road got a flat tire.
They say the rim of the tire heated up which caused damage to the front end of the car.
The driver had to stop the car on the median.
But troopers say the vegetation on the median caught fire and the car erupted in flames.
As far as we know, the driver of the car is okay.
Authorities on scene say the driver was found walking by Grand Junction Police walking away from the median.
State Troopers gave the driver a sobriety test and he was taken into custody.
We don't know the results of that test.
