Obama Lays Claim To Democratic Nomination

St. Paul, minn. (AP) Barack Obama says the democratic nomination for president is his and he's urging supporters to “chart a new course for America.”

Obama's declaration last night came in the same Minnesota arena where John McCain will officially accept the republican nominati for president in September.

In his speech, Obama was effusive in his praise for Hillary Clinton, though so far she hasn't conceded the nomination.

But Obama has begun taking steps toward mxending fences, saying both the Democratic party and the country are better off because of the former first lady's campaign.

Obama also went after McCain by tying him closely to President Bush. He also disputed that McCain stands for any kind of real change.
