Inagural holiday lights competition in Fruita

By  |

FRUITA, Colo. The City of Fruita is calling out all “Griswald's” for their first ever Holiday Lights Competition. You can nominate yourself or a neighbor whose house is making a statement.

The lights competition has four different categories to compete in. There is the traditional category, the creative or festive, the most 'Griswaldish', which would be the house with the most lights, and the decke- out business category.

"It’s really to get people excited and decorate their house and create that small town atmosphere and all that kind of fun stuff," says Ture Nycum, director of Fruita Parks and Recreation.

On December 11th and 12th, seniors will judge the displays while on their holiday light tour. To nominate a display, you can stop by the Fruita Community Center or e-mail Fruita Parks and Recreation.
