2013 Ice Bowl Game

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Sure, it may be a little cold for a regular round of golf in the Valley, but that didn't stop some from hitting the greens for a round of disc golf today.

Close to 80 Mesa County residents took their frisbees to the Riverbend Disc Golf Park this morning to help raise food and money for local programs.

This year the Grand Valley Disc Golf Club chose to donate their funds to the Catholic Outreach's Soup Kitchen, Child and Migrant Services and Agape Food Basket, in an effort to feed the hungry.

"It's a yearly event that's been going on nationwide since sometime in the 1980's. Our little event is usually in the top 10 or top 15 in the country raising money and food combined every year out of 200 plus ice bowls," said Rock Cesario, President of the Grand Valley Disc Golf Club.

If you didn't get a chance to make it out to the park today, you can still donate to these non-profits by taking a food or money donation into Triple Play Records downtown.

The owner is also the president of the Disc Golf Club and will personally take in the donations.
