G.O.C.O. Meets to Discuss Use of Colorado Lottery Money

Members of the Great Outdoors Colorado board met Thursday in Grand Junction. One of the major topics of discussion is the possibility that some state parks may have to close if voters do not pass Referendum C in November.

Known as G.O.C., the group oversees how proceeds from the Colorado Lottery are spent to purchase lands for parks and greenbelts. 25% of lottery funds are sent to Colorado state parks.

Some legislators opposed to Referendum C propose to take lottery proceeds that fund state parks and put those monies into the general fund.

That proposal would have to approve by voters for it to take effect.
