Mineola, Texas (AP) A third person with ties to a sex club that authorities say preyed on children is set to go on trial today in Texas.

Two people have already been convicted and sentenced to life in prison in the case. Prosecutors allege that children as young as five were fed powerful painkillers they knew as “silly pills” and forced to perform sex shows for a crowd of adults at the club in
Mineola.

In all, six people have been charged.

The lawyer for the man going on trial says his client is innocent and passed a lie-detector test.

The editor of the local newspaper says there were rumors about an adult swingers group in the town of 5,100, but no one mentioned children being involved.
