Mesa County To Hold Monthly Child Safety Seat Checks

94 percent of all child safety restraint systems are used incorrectly in Colorado, that's according to the Mesa County Health Department. To ensure children are properly protected the health department with the help of a grant from the Colorado Department Of Transportation will hold monthly car seat safety checks. The first of which was held Friday in the parking lot of the Mesa County Community Services Building. Nationally certified technicians were on hand to look for some of the most common errors when it comes to car seat safety which include harness straps that are too loose, the seat is too loose in the vehicle, and the clip that attaches both harness straps is too low. To participate in future car seat safety checks you must schedule an appointment. The next events are planned for January 13th and February 10th. Call 254–4112 to reserve your spot.
