Irrigators in the lower Grand Valley should see more consistent water flows thanks to 2025 Challenge Grant awards handed out today by the Federal Bureau Of Reclamation.
The 200-thousand dollar grant offers matching funds to the Grand Valley Irrigation District to install check structures, raise some canal banks, and install measuring devices on the keifer extension canal. The work is estimated to save 48-hundred acre-feet of water yearly.
West Divide Water Company serving the Rifle-Silt area of western Colorado also received a matching grant. That money will be used to install a pump station and develop a marketing program.
