Mesa County Commissioners approve a new budget today that includes a more than 9% increase over 2005. The increase in the budget reflects the growing population of Mesa County, which for the first time this year saw sales tax and use taxes top income from property taxes. major new programs highlighted in the budget focus on treatment and rehabilitation of a growing population of methamphetamine users in Mesa County. more than 600–thousand dollars will be spent on these programs...
as well as another 6–point–four million dollars to remodel existing buildings. the two programs are expected to highlight the need for a new Mesa County Jail Facility that would cost 9.5 million dollars.
