The Marine's Toys for Tots program is currently stocked with only half the toys the group normally has for the children of Mesa County.
Many toys that would normally be shipped throughout the country are headed to victims of hurricanes Kartina and Wilma. That means a shortage of much–needed toys in other parts of the country and a need to step up efforts here in mesa county.
A Toys for Tots coordinator in Mesa County says the group is short nearly a dozen loads fom last year, or about 50 per cent of normal.
11 News is a sponsor of Toys for Tots and serves as one of fourty drop-off points for toys in the Grand Valley. Other places to leave toys include the Marine Corps Recruitment Center at Solaris Square on North Avenue, Taco Bell, Big-O Tires and Toys R'Us.
