Former Deputy To Replace Ousted Garfield County DA

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A former deputy to ousted District Attorney Colleen Truden is preparing to take over her job.

Truden lost a recall election by a margin of 4-1 Tuesday in Pitkin, Garfield and Rio Blanco Counties. Martin Beeson, who resigned from truden's staff in April, was elected to replace her. It's not clear when he'll take over.

The Colorado Secretary of State has until January sixth to certify the results of the vote, and Beeson would be sworn in after that.

Truden is the first Colorado District Attorney to be ousted from
office. She was accused of dishonesty, nepotism and mismanagement. She defended her record and said the complaints came from people
who didn't like her strict management style and from her opponents
in last year's election.
