Garfield County Sheriff's investigators have closed a case involving what first appeared to be a grave found west of Rifle.
The grave found last month was thought to be that of a baby, but information on the find was notreleased until last week.
Investigators began Tuesday to excavate the four-by-eight-foot mound of dirt that was marked with a cross and other items.
Garfild County Sheriff Tom Valerio says the case was closed after crews dug seven feet into the ground and nothing was found.
