New Laws Will Take Effect In 2006

On January 1st residents of Colorado will have to adjust to several new laws that will effect on Sunday.

Anyone using a State Wildlife Area must buy a $10 annual wildlife stamp. Hunters and fisherman, who also must buy licenses, would only have to pay $5. The disabled and people over 65 don't have to buy a stamp.

Also counties and municipalities can establish regional transportation systems if they get voter approval. And the age residents can be claimed as a dependent under their parents' health care plan rises from 24 to 25.

In 2006 there will be new rights for people who live in housing developments governed by homeowners' associations. And the use of genetic tests has been barred for establishing paternity after there has been a final divorce decree or legal separation. These are just a few of the upcoming laws for the New Year.
