This area of high pressure that has been our dominating weather force that last 24-36 hours will continue stay in charge of the weather. Temperatures during the afternoon will graduate another couple degrees in most places with the lower valleys expected to exceed 100°. Up on the Grand Mesa we will see some hot temperatures in the lower to middle 90's. Winds will be fairly light and variable during the afternoon.
Record highs for the next three days: Friday, 104° (1900); Saturday, 103° (1990); Sunday, 103°(2002)
Through the weekend highs will remain dangerously hot and near triple digits. Scattered mountain showers will be likely each afternoon in the high country and mainly near the San Juan's. This upper level ridge will start to retreat west late this weekend bringing a cooling trend during next week. Cool being a relative term here as we will still be above 90° through Independence Day.
