Three kids have been found and are safe after an Amber Alert was issued Wednesday morning.
With two adults dead, the discovery that the children were unharmed was an astonishing development in a case that seemed to grow more and more dire with every new piece of information. The case began as a welfare check at a home in Greenwood Village, where Denver police found a woman dead. The car associated with the Amber Alert was later spotted south of Franktown. State Patrol says that after troopers caught up with the driver, he shot himself.
According to police, the Amber Alert was issued following the investigation of the home where the woman was found. Police realized three kids and a car associated with the home were missing.
KCNC-TV in Denver is reporting two of the kids were found in an apartment in Aurora. Police have not said where the third child was found, but confirm that child is also safe. We are working to get more information about this developing story.
*Editor's Note: Authorities originally believed four kids were missing, but now say it was only three. The story has been updated to reflect that change.
