Western Slope Raccoons Are Getting Sick

Raccoons on the Western Slope are getting sick,
and the Colorado Division of Wildlife believes an outbreak of distemper is to blame.
While humans are not affected by the virus, it is highly contagious to other animals, including unvaccinated pets. There is no cure for distemper, however some animals do recover once they've contracted the virus, others do not survive. Signs of the sickness are gooey eyes, disorientation, and strange behavior. The D.O.W reminds people to not approach an animal that appears sick.
