The Grand Junction Lions Club Continues To Give Back To The Community

The Grand Junction Lions Club has a rich tradition of giving money to deserving non–profit organizations. Today they keep with it by giving out more than 100–thousand dollars to a wide variety of community projects. The Ken Nesbitt Construction Education Center at Western Colorado Community College and Mesa County Search and Rescue each received 30–thousand dollars in grants. Some of the other organizations that received money are Thunder Mountain and Tope Elementary schools,and the Senior Recreation Center and Child and Migrant Services. The Grand Junction Lions Club is able to raise money through its annual carnival and raffle that's held on the third Saturday of February. Over the course of 80 years the club has given away more than 3–million dollars.
