The Mesa County Commissioners accepted a grant today from the state department of local affairs to study emergency medical training needs in western Colorado.
EMS workers in local governments currently have to go to Denver to receive training on the latest techniques. The 60–thousand dollar grant to the Mesa County Workforce Center will be used to hire researchers to determine if there is a need for a training center on the western slope. A college may be the best place to open a training center if it's determined there is a need for one. Fort Lewis College in Durango is mentioned as one location.
