Horticulturalists Gather For Annual Convention

Promoting Western Colorado's farmland as a premiere tourist attraction is one of the goals of the Horticultural Society's 2006 convention. The convention now in its 63rd year features workshops and a trade show at Two Rivers Convention Center in Grand Junction. The Western Colorado Horticultural Society caters to commercial–scale fruit growers, but anyone interested in Colorado farming may join. In addition to state–of–the–art equipment like tractors, attendees were treated to guest speakers. Some of whom traveled all the way from Canada to share tips of how to promote tourism in rural areas. The Horticultural Society's convention continues tomorrow and Sunday. Saturday's topics will primarily be devoted to grape growing and is sponsored in part by the Rocky Mountain Association of Vintners and Viticulturalists.
