Winter Storm Brings Much Needed Snow To Local Ski Resorts

Snow continues to fall across parts of the western slope and the National Weather Service says this storm could bring more than a foot of new powder by tomorrow morning. Snow began falling at Powderhorn Resort at about eight o'clock this morning and by five o'clock eight inches of new snow was reported. Folks around the grand valley flocked to the resort to hit the slopes and take advantage of the winter storm. Powderhorn was without virtually any precipitation for nearly two weeks. Kathy Dirks with the resort says they were hurting for snow and today's storm is a welcome change for her staff as well as all the outdoorsmen and women who got to play in it. This pacific storm also blanketed parts of Southwest Colorado bringing some snow to the San Juans where ski areas are also desperate for snow. The storm is expected to move east toward Denver where up to six inches could fall by midday tomorrow.
