The snow that blanketed the Grand Valley this morning breaks a record that stood for 81 years.
The National Weather Service says 2.4 inches fell at Walker Field airport in the last 24 hours. That breaks the previous record of 2.2 inches for the date set in 1925.
Numerous car accidents were reported around the Grand Valley,including two crashes between Kannah Creek and the Delta County line on highway 50. One person received broken ribs in one rollover near mile post 46.
Others enjoying today's Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday took the time to do a little sledding at Duck Pond Park and other places in the city.
The storm was also a welcome sight at Powderhorn Ski Resort on the Grand Mesa.They received a substantial amount of snow with 25 inches of powder in 24 hours from this storm. About 2 thousand people visited the mountain today to enjoy the snow.
