This weekends train derailment near Winter Park caused a major headache for internet customers across the state and right here in the Grand Valley. The good news is most internet services are back up and running today. The problem occurred when railroad crews were cleaning up the debris from Saturday's train derailment. They accidentally cut a fiber circuit that connects local users to the internet. Bresnan Customers were only down for a short period because the company was able to reroute users to a different circuit, but Comcast customers in the Parachute area were down for several days. At this time MCI and Qwest are working together to fix the problem. MCI says the majority of their customers are back on line and crew are still on sight and will continue working through the night until all the lines are spliced back together.
