United Way of Mesa County Campaign Co–Chairs Doug and Jamie Simons hope the Taste of the Grand Valley will help the organization reach its goal of raising 1.2 million dollars for the 2005–06 campaign. The Simons say they are 85% of the way. If they reach their goal Doug and Jamie will be the second co–chairs in campaign history to surpass the million dollar mark. So far 56 human service programs have already applied for United Way funding for the 2006–07 fiscal year which begins in July. These applications will be reviewed over the next two months and funding recommendations will be made to the United Way of Mesa County.
