Fire Danger High In Parts Of Colorado

Fire danger is high for much of Colorado and dry tall grass on the front range along with high winds have made for a dangerous winter fire season. A brush fire broke out yesterday near fort collins when someone carelessly tossed a lit cigarette out the window of a car.
It took 30 firefighters to knock down the 7 to 10 foot flames which threatened several homes. Dispatch centers in the Pueblo and Fort Collins areas are usually closed on the weekend, but because fire danger is so high they're fully staffed and on high alert.
Firefighters say they're worried about the areas of colorado below the 7K foot mark because there has been little moisture, however most areas above that mark have seen plenty of precipitation.
