After a 2-year-old boy dies after suffering severe brain trauma, Grand Junction police say they are approaching the case as a homicide.
The child was originally brought to St. Mary's Hospital last Thursday with serious brain injuries and at that point, police had begun the investigation as a child abuse case. However, with the child's death being blamed on sustained injuries, police are now considering the case a homicide.
While police executed a search warrant at the family's home in the 600 block of N. 22nd St. and have questioned the child's father and live?in girlfriend, police say the case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.
