Beetle Battle

The county says it's winning the beetle battle in Palisade so produce vital to the local economy is safe for now.

Japanese beetles, smaller than the size of a dime put crops like peaches, roses, grapes, and even your lawn in danger. County entomologists’ have been spraying insecticide and trapping them for five years.

When they started there were 1300 bugs county officials say so far this year there are zero. Entomologists’ will keep checking the traps throughout the summer in case the bugs show up.
