Construction on a 12 million dollar residence hall is right on schedule and sparking more changes to Mesa State College's landscape. The new residence hall will be completed this August and will provide housing for more than 250 students. When the 2005 fall semester began the college had to put some new students up in hotels.
That's when President Tim Foster says the college recognized a great need for more housing. The Mesa State Theatre Costume Shop on Houston and North Avenue will be torn down within the next six months in order to provide parking for the new residence hall. College place will also be narrowed to one lane and a lot more landscaping will be added. Even with the new residence hall Mesa State College will still be short of housing for about 400 students.
Mesa State College provides educational opportunities to roughly 6,000 students.
