Hundreds of people came to listen to state representative Bernie Buescher discuss the problems with the Public Employees Retirement Association. There have been rumors that P.E.R.A. will soon go bankrupt, and Buescher took the opportunity to dispel those rumors,
and explain what the problem really is, as well as hearing feedback from those the problem affects the most. There have been three different legislative proposals to help with the 11 billion dollar P.E.R.A. deficit. None of them have the support to pass, so Buescher hopes to hold several meetings at the legislature where everyone can try to find a common ground and put together a proposal that will work.
