Three Dead In Delta County Plane Crash

Video will be available shortly.

A plane crashed in Delta County killing all three people on board including a resident of Grand Junction. The small single–engine Cessna 182 Skylane went down southeast of the town of Austin around 11 AM. Witnesses say the plane hit a pair of power lines then crashed into a field before exploding on the bank of a creek. The plane went down on private property. Delta County Sheriff Fred McKee says the flight orginated in Telluride, however its destination was not available Thursday. A sheriff's deputy will stay on site until Friday when federal officials are expected to arrive and begin investigating the crash. While the identities of the three people on board have not been released, officials say the pilot was from Saw Pit near Telluride, one passenger was from Grand Junction and the other passenger was a resident of Maryland.
