A motorcyclist involved in a crash has died.

The accident happened Saturday night atop the Grand Mesa near Never Sweat Lakes.

State Patrol says James Edward Waegli Jr. was riding an off-road motorcycle when it skidded on some gravel and crashed head on into a Ford Bronco that had just pulled over.

The man flew off his bike, hit the front of the SUV and landed in the middle of the road.

The 29-year-old Grand Junction man was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital where he pronounced dead.

Never Sweat Lakes is about 13 miles south of Collbran.
