Critical Funding Restored For Disability Programs

Video will be available shortly.

Critical funding has been restored for developmental disability programs across the state thanks in part to a Grand Junction lawmaker.
The passing of referendum 'C' gives joint budget committee members the chance to restore cuts made in the past to health care and educational programs and State Representative Bernie Buescher says he's taking full advantage of it. In a bipartisan unanimous vote Buescher was able to restore state mental services. Buescher says the developmental disability program is innovative in the sense that it's a long–term solution and investment for the state. The restored funding will also go towards independent living centers and emergency placement for those with disabilities. Last year the program received about 2.8 million dollars, this year the program will receive 11.5 million dollars.
