Rowland To Ask Congress For Help With Meth War

Mesa County CommissionerJanet Rowland will travel to Washington this week to urge lawmakers to crack down on sales of a chemical used to make methamphetamine as Grand Junction representative Josh Penry introduces a resolution asking Washington for help with fighting methamphetamine.

A joint house resolution introduced in Denver today will ask the White House and congress to get tough on excess imports of pseudo– ephedrine into Mexico. Penry says 80 to 90 per cent of the methamphetamine in Colorado comes from Mexico, and making pseudoephedrine more difficult to get will slow the methamphetamine trade.

Commissioner Rowland will take the resolution to Washington along with Commissioner Craig Meis. They are representing Mesa County on a legislative trip to the National Association of Counties.
