Man Accused of Killing Child Pleads Not Guilty

A trial date has been set for a former Grand Junction man accused of killing his girlfriend's daughter.

Charles McEachern pleaded not guilty in court.

The 32–year–old is facing First–Degree Murder and Child Abuse charges in the June 2006 death of 3–year–old Miranda Baca.

Authorities say McEachern was baby–sitting the child while his then–girlfriend was at work. An autopsy indicated the girl died from blunt force trauma to the head.

The trial is expected to last two weeks and will begin in September.
