The cold and snow didn't stop the friends and family of Pete Larson from dedicating the Pet–e–kes trail in his memory Sunday.
In 2004, Pete Larson was killed in an ATV accident while working for the Bureau of Land Management.
Pete's loved ones began carving a trail in his honor.
Pete was passionate about the outdoors
and loved taking his dogs out for hikes, so his loved ones felt the best way to honor Pete's life was to create a trail so that others could enjoy the outdoors that Pete loved.
It made sense to the family to brave the weather
because it's something Pete would do.
Construction of the trail was scheduled to be finished Sunday
but the weather delayed the completion.
The hope is that the trail will be completed by the end of March.
