Mesa County Administrator Jon Peacock delivered his first ever state of the county address. Growth, unemployment and the county economy were just some of the topics covered in the speech today.
Peacock says unemployment is down while sales tax revenue is up, which has meant good things for Mesa County in 2005. "We are starting to face more urban problems and we are starting to have to provide more services," Peacock said. Despite dealing with the challenges of growth, the county had many accomplishments over the past year, which includes road projects, creating more high paying jobs and approving a meth treatment facility and task force. Peacock says "we are really trying to open up the organization to it's citizens."
