The Montrose Fire Protection District says it's trying to figure out what started a garage fire that caused nearly $40,000 to a home Friday night.
Just before 11:30 Friday night, firefighters were dispatched to the 700 Block of 3rd Street after receiving reports of a structure on fire.
Officials say when they arrived on scene, they could see heavy fire coming through the roof of a detached garage. Firefighters were able to control the blaze soon after.
Several items in the garage including a car were burned.
An arson investigator with the police department was on scene, but could not determine what started the fire.
