A gas main break causes headaches for drivers trying to travel on 32 Road on Orchard Mesa Friday morning. 32 Road or Highway 141 on Orchard Mesa was closed in both directions for nearly three hours after a construction crew digging near B Road broke a gas main. The incident happened just after 9 a.m.. The Central Orchard Mesa Fire Department was called in to ensure the public's safety while Xcel Energy employees worked to secure the one and a quarter inch gas line. The fire department responded with four units and five personnel and Mesa County sheriff's deputies helped direct traffic through a detour. A spokesperson for Xcel Energy says the gas main break caused only one outage to a nearby home, and there were no injuries reported.
