Colorado Governor Bill Owens says he will sign a proposed state wide smoking ban that recently made its way through the legislature,
in turn making the Grand Junction ordinance that went into effect in January obsolete. Currently, smokers can still light up in bars, and in separate smoking areas. The Players Place Bingo Parlor on North Avenue, spent $23,000 to build a wall to separate the smokers from the non–smokers, so that smoking bingo players, could still light up and play. The new state wide law means that wall or not, you can't smoke inside. The manager of The Players Place says that he expects to see smokers stop coming to bingo for a bit. The only places that are exempt from the smoking law in Colorado will be casinos, cigar bars, and the smoking lounge at the Denver International Airport.
