A mother makes an emotional plea after Mesa County Deputies search the desert north of Grand Junction for two people who eluded traffic stop, one of whom could be her missing daughter. A Mesa County Sheriff's Deputy tried to stop a black Ford Bronco when the vehicle sped away into the desert west of Walker Field Airport. Deputies fanned out across the desert from Walker Field Airport west to 25 road.
While searching the area the bronco was found abandoned and footprints heading south from the vehicle. Inside deputies found an empty rifle case and a box of shells, leading them to believe 32–year–old Michael Ritchie may be armed and may also be mentally unstable.
Ritchie is believed to be with 16–year–old Cassie Marie Houchin.
who is has been missing since March 10th and is classified by law enforcement as a runaway. Houchin's mother says she believes her daughter is with a dangerous man and is being held against her will. Cassie Marie Houchin is 16-years-old. She has dyed light red hair, hazel eyes and wears a nose ring. Ritchie is 32-years-old, tall with a slender build and red hair.
