Grand Junction Fire Chief Retires

Grand Junction's Fire Chief announced he's retiring from his position Wednesday. Rick Beaty had been Grand Junction's Fire Chief since 1995.
Beaty joined the Grand Junction Fire Department in 1984 as a paramedic and worked his way through the chain of command before becoming chief 11 years ago.
In a written statement, City Manager Kelly Arnold stated that Chief Beaty is well respected regionally and has exhibited a solid sense of responsibility during his tenure. Arnold added he is confident that despite the loss of Beaty, the fire department will continue to provide efficient service and continue towards the revamped EMS program that's to be rolled out later this year.
Fire Department Operations Officer Jim Bright has been named the interim chief. Beaty says serving as Grand Junction's fire chief has been a privilege and that he has learned a great deal from the experience, but that it is just time for him to look into other opportunities. Chief Beaty says that he will look forward to spending more time with his family.
Beaty's last day on the job will be April 28th.
