After having problems with the 2006 elections, Montrose County was placed on the Colorado Secretary of State's Election watch list. But the Montrose County Clerk and Recorder says that won't be the case for this year's election.

Fran Tipton-Long says during a recent visit to Denver in June, she was officially told by the Secretary of State's Office the county would be removed from the watch list.

Tipton-Long says the debacle two years ago was due to county election officials' inexperience. But after several successful mock elections, a problem free 2007 election, and more than 1,000 hours of training, officials have been able to restore voter confidence and are now prepared to handle the 2008 general election.

She says the county will officially be off the list, once she receives a signed document from the Secretary of State's Office.
