After meeting with several economists, House speaker Nancy Pelosi says she and other Democrats in congress are proceeding with another stimulus package.

Pelosi says the recent tax rebates have helped but she sees the need for another stimulus to offset to increasing gasoline prices and other costs.

Among the ideas being considered are additional tax rebates, heating and air conditioning subsidies for the poor, higher food stamp payments and increased aid to the states.

Any plan is not likely to emerge until after congress returns in September following its annual summer vacation. President Bush says congress should wait for the first stimulus package to fully kick in before passing another.
