Authorities tack on more charges against a man who was at the center of a nine–hour police standoff on Orchard Mesa over the weekend.
Norman Grady is now facing a total of 18 charges, the latest counts coming from an arrest warrant issued by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office. Because of the new warrant, Grady remains in custody and no bond was set.
On Sunday, more than two dozen law enforcement officers responded to Grady's Orchard Mesa neighborhood and while the suspect was suicidal, officials say the charges reflect what was a severe situation.
Because the incident involved the use of lethal force by two Grand Junction Police Officers who fired their weapons, Sheriff's Office investigators have been designated the lead agency for both the criminal case against Grady and the inquiry into the Grand Junction officer's actions.
