Mesa County Republicans Choose Primary Candidates

By  |

Republicans candidates from all over the state gathered Saturday to get enough support to catapult them to the next step of the election process.

A few weeks ago, delegates were selected to nominate candidates to run in the August primary. Saturday, those delegates stood before an auditorium of fellow Republicans to introduce their nominations. It will be the end of the road for some hoping to be elected for August's prmary election. A nominee needs to get 30 percent of the vote to move on, but for many nominees this is just a precursor to when the vote really matters, which is the August primary which dictates which candidate will be on the November general election ballot.

Ultimately, the delegates have the biggest voice in choosing candidates for the republican primary, which will be held on the first Tuesday in August.
