A Clifton man who admitted to running over his best friend and then leaving the scene of the accident will serve eight years in prison.
Michael Ocampo plead guilty to vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and possession of cocaine in May.
In July 2007 Ocampo and his friend, 26-year-old Mario Mondragon were drinking at a Grand Junction night club. Mondragon left the bar on foot and was later run over by Ocampo. Mondragon died of his injuries at a hospitlal.
After Ocampo finishes his sentence, he will be on parole for six years.
