Fiery Crash Closes I-70

Westbound interstate 70 is closed at State Highway C-470 in Aurora after a fiery seven-vehicle crash that included at least one semitrailer.

The crash happened at about 8:25 a.m. Friday east of Pena Boulevard, the road leading to Denver International airport.

Authorities say no one was killed. One adult male was airlifted to an area hospital, while at least two others were transported by ambulance. The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the cause of the pileup.

Eastbound Interstate 70 had been closed for a time. It has since reopened, but significant backups remain.
