Severe Weather Awareness Week Begins

With temperatures getting warmer, the possibility to see severe weather in Colorado becomes greater.
This week, National Weather Service bureaus across Colorado, including Grand Junction, are participating in Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Each day will focus on a different area of safety and weather, including flash flooding, thunderstorms and lightening.
Lightening is the number one weather hazard in Colorado, causing at least three deaths and nearly 20 injuries a year and meteorologists for the National Weather Service say you don't have to be an expert, but knowing what's coming and how to handle it is important.
In addition to concentrating on one aspect of severe weather each day, on Saturday April 22, residents are invited to an open house at the Grand Junction National Weather Service office, located at Walker Field Airport, for a closer look at severe weather.
