Local Group Holds Tax Protest

Members of the group A Voice of Reason gathered for a peaceful protest on tax day in Grand Junction.
Volunteers stood outside the Postal Office at 4th and White with exhibits and fliers to educate people on where their tax money is going.
In light of the Iraq war, tea bags were distributed as a reminder of our history and duty to speak out against public policy.
According to the Friends Committee on National Legislation, every dollar of federal income tax paid, 42 cents go to what they're calling a war machine. Another interesting tax fact is that the average American works from New Year's Day until April 11th just to pay their taxes each year.
