Winds over 50 m.p.h blow through parts of the Grand Valley after a frontal system pushed through the area on Monday. Sustained wind speeds between 25 and 35 m.p.h caused a windmill to blow over among other problems. One shed was found blown into a neighbors back yard and a fruit stand canopy in front of K–Mart on North Avenue blew from one side of the street to the other.
Street signs throughout the city were also prone to damage, wind gusts in Grand Junction Monday afternoon topped out at 51 m.p.h, while Montrose Airport reported gusts of 55 m.p.h. Monday trash pick–up for some residents and businesses was also delayed a day because of the high winds, which forced the early closure of the Mesa County Landfill on Monday morning.
